I recently got rid of my zoom lenses and greatly underestimated how hard shooting live theater would be with only a couple of primes. Thankfully, I had the Fuji X100s and got this gem during a dance show. It camera performs like a champ at ISO 3200 and the lighting design by Karin Olson wasn't too shabby either.
I went to the IVEY Awards last night to take a few photos for Minnesota Playlist and was pretty much limited to the red carpet. There were already several photographers shooting posed portraits, so I tried to get some different stuff. Here are a few of my favorites. The scene outside the State Theater.
About to walk the red carpet.
Lifetime Achievement award winner, Dudley Riggs, hams it up for a photographer before the IVEY Awards.
Over the past month I had the honor of being invited in to document the rehearsals of several Minneapolis theater companies. The goal was to produce a photo gallery showing the often unseen rehearsal process for Minnesota Playlist, an online performing arts magazine. Below are a few photos, but you can check them all out here. You might even see a photo of yours truly at the bottom of the page.
Thanks to everyone who welcomed me in and gave unrestricted access to what is usually a fairly private process.
